MACAU, Macau -- Manny Pacquiao got the big knockdowns he so desperately craved, battering Chris Algieri around the ring at will Sunday on his way to a decision win in one of the most lopsided welterweight title fights imaginable. Charlie Maxwell Jersey . Pacquiao chased Algieri from the opening bell, knocking him down repeatedly and dominating. About the only thing Pacquiao didnt get was his first knockout in five years, settling instead for a lopsided 12-round unanimous decision against an opponent who seemed unwilling to engage. By the time it was over, Algieri had gone down six times. And Pacquiao had a signature win that should put to rest the idea hes declining and maybe even set up a fight next year with Floyd Mayweather Jr. Pacquiao prayed in his corner while waiting for the decision. But it was Algieri who never had a prayer. Pacquiao knocked Algieri down once in the second round, two more times in the sixth and twice more in the ninth. After a final knockdown in the 10th round, he seemed to back off in a fight that had long been decided. Two ringside judges scored the bout 119-103 while the third had it 120-102. The Associated Press had Pacquiao winning 120-102. Pacquiao went into the fight saying he needed a signature win to entice Mayweather to fight him in a bout that boxing fans have wanted for years. He vowed to put on a power performance like some of his earlier fights and did, never letting Algieri get close. I really want that fight, Pacquiao said of Mayweather. The fans deserve that fight. Some of the sold out crowd of 13,202 at the Venetian Macau may have wondered whether Algieri deserved this fight, as he spent more time trying to stay away from Pacquiao than trading punches. But while Algieri could run, he couldnt hide. Pacquiao caught him repeatedly with power punches and dropped him as he tried to back away. The master boxer was given a master class by professor Pacquiao tonight, trainer Freddie Roach said. I was disappointed in Algieris performance tonight. All he did was run. Algieri said he was simply beaten by a better fighter. Its not just his hand speed, Algieri said. Hes a great fighter. He does everything well. Manny has perfected his style of boxing. Pacquiaos second fight in China was held at midday to accommodate the pay-per-view sales in the U.S., but the time of day didnt matter much to the Filipino fans who cheered on their 35-year-old national hero. Pacquiao knocked Algieri down in the corner in the second round, though Algieri claimed it was a slip. He easily fought his way through Algieris tentative defence, landing punches on the inside and piling up points. Algieri came into the fight with a reputation for his jab, but he refused to commit to it early and simply pawed at Pacquiao with his left hand. Still, Algieris corner somehow thought he was carrying out the game plan just the way they had drawn it up. Youre doing beautiful man, trainer Tim Lane told his fighter after the third round. Everything stays the same. Keep it up. By the end of the fourth round, Pacquiao had already thrown more than 100 more punches than Algieri. But Algieri rarely stopped to set his feet to punch, and kept trying to run away from the champions punching power. Unfortunately for Algieri, things then went from bad to worse. Pacquiao caught him with a big left hand that sent Algieri sprawling on the canvas in the sixth round, almost turning a reverse somersault before finally landing in the corner. Pacquiao was right back on him, and Algieri went down again late in the round as he tried desperately to survive. Still, Algieris corner urged him to continue to do what he was doing, long after he needed a knockout to win. This is the way we want to be, Lane told him. This is what you wanted Algieri was an unlikely opponent despite being unbeaten in 20 fights after ending a kick boxing career to concentrate on boxing. He got the bout after being knocked down twice in the first round in his June fight with Ruslan Provodnikov and coming back to win a 12-round decision, and was supremely confident in the weeks before the fight that he would beat Pacquiao, too. Still, oddsmakers made him a 7-1 underdog against the Filipino great, who came into determined to show he still had his punching power. The bout was for a piece of the welterweight title held by Pacquiao, though it was fought at a catch weight of 144 pounds instead of 147. Willie Hernandez Jersey . LOUIS -- The St. John Hiller Jersey . - The Denver Broncos kept rookie wide receiver Tavarres King from joining the Green Bay Packers by promoting him to their active roster Tuesday.ENGLEWOOD, Colo. - The Colorado Avalanche were deflated after their blowout loss in the season opener.Their egos, especially. And maybe not a bad thing, either.Coach Patrick Roy thinks maybe the success of last season went straight to their heads, as did all the preseason hype proclaiming them contenders again in the Western Conference. The Avs didnt play with their usual chip on the shoulder throughout the preseason, and it carried over when they were outhustled and outshot in a 5-0 loss at Minnesota on Thursday.Roy is hoping to see a different team a€” one resembling the squad that captured the Central Division last season a€” on the ice Saturday night for the home-opener against the Wild. All summer long, everybody said how nice we were, how good we were, how special we were, how everybody was excited about the team, how everybody was excited about this year, said Roy, whose team tied a franchise record with 52 wins. We forgot how hard we worked last year to be the team we were. Thats what we have to do.This is a wake-up call. The Wild had a franchise-record 48 shots on goal and chased goaltender Semyon Varlamov from the game. When asked if Varlamov would be in net again Saturday, Roy chuckled. Not because his goaltenders performance was laughable, but because Varlamov was actually solid in spite of the score.Hes the reason why it was only 5-0, Roy said.Just like last season, Roys trying to keep an even-keel approach. No highs after big wins and no eruptions after losses like this one. The team was scheduled to have a day off the ice on Friday, so Roy kept it that way. The players worked out, watched film and then went home. However, Roy will alter his lineup. Hes pairing Jarome Iginla with Matt Duchene and Ryan OReilly on one line. The second line will feature Alex Tanguay, Nathan MacKinnon and Gabriel Landeskog.Simply trying to find a spark just as Roy did all during the preseason when his team went 1-5-2. Tyler Alexander Jersey. .Its only one game, but we have to learn from that game, Roy said. We cannot push it aside and say, Hey, lets forget about it.Roys coaching debut last season was quite memorable a€” he tried to push through a glass partition to get to Anaheim coach Bruce Boudreau. And that was after a 6-1 win.The team took on the persona of their fiery coach and got off to a sizzling 14-2 start. But the way they lost this opener a€” struggling with possession and outraced down the ice a€” made for a long plane ride back to Denver. Its always quiet after a loss, but last night guys were kind of talking to each other on the plane and chit-chatting about what really happened and what are we going to do to get better, Landeskog said. Everybody has a right to be (mad) and disappointed, but everybodys got to be able to step back and look at what we really did and what we didnt do and what we have to do to be a better team.Like putting the past behind. We have to know that we cant just show up and put the gear on and were going to be a good team, said Duchene, whose team was knocked out of the post-season by the Wild by an overtime goal in Game 7. We have to do what we did last year a€” come to every game with enthusiasm and hard work and excitement. Last night, we almost seemed a little tentative. This team is a trendy pick to possibly make an even deeper post-season run. The Avs brought in veterans like Brad Stuart, Daniel Briere and Iginla to not only improve the roster, but help in tough situations like this.A lot of us didnt want the puck last night, Duchene said. There were times when we tried to pass the problem off to someone else. We just have to take control and be loose and just play. Theres no reason to be nervous or uptight about trying to duplicate what we did last year.We just have to relax and play hockey, work hard and have fun. Thats what we did last year. ' ' '
PHILADELPHIA -- A judge overseeing thousands of NFL concussion-linked lawsuits says lawyers are still working to address her concerns about a proposed $765 million fund. Cheap NHL Jerseys . U.S. District Judge Anita Brody says she fears the fund may not be large enough to cover up to 20,000 retired players for 65 years. Lawyers have given her more data to weigh since she rejected the deal on a preliminary basis in January. The judge says in a Thursday order the parties are continuing to work with the court "to address the issues." She also has clarified an order this week denying approval of the deal was not a new ruling. She says she was simply adding the January ruling to some case files. The judge is expected to hold hearings in the case this year. Wholesale NHL Jerseys . The team of Lars Nelson, Daniel Richardsson, Johan Olsson, and anchor Marcus Hellner cruised to victory in the 4x10 km event, winning in a time of one hour, 28 minutes, and 42. Authentic NHL Jerseys . Nat Borchers headed in the sole goal in the 54th minute, getting on the end of a Kyle Beckerman free kick. The defeat cost Sporting top spot in the Eastern Conference. Even a draw would have moved the Kansas City club above Columbus.PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Terrell Suggs isnt one to get rattled. The Baltimore Ravens linebacker has made a career out of being the one who agitates, not the one who gets agitated. For a night anyway, the Pittsburgh Steelers found a way to reverse the roles.Ben Roethlisberger threw six touchdown passes and the Ravens lost their cool in a 43-23 loss on Sunday night. Baltimore turned it over twice, gave up four sacks and was flagged 10 times while losing its second straight. We didnt respond well when bad things started to happen, Suggs said. Weve got to be better. We cant be kidding ourselves anymore. We have a lot of work to do.Better get started soon. The Ravens (5-4) fell into last place in the crowded AFC North with the loss after it failed to sweep the season series from the surging Steelers (6-3), who have won three straight. Its frustrating anytime you lose and dont play the way you expect to play, but weve got to get over it and keep working on it, Baltimore wide receiver Torrey Smith said. Nobodys going to feel sorry for us.Certainly not Pittsburgh. The Ravens dominated the Steelers 26-6 in Week 2, emerging from a chaotic few days surrounding the release of running back Ray Rice by physically overwhelming the Steelers. This time, it was the other way around. Joe Flacco threw for 303 yards with two touchdowns and an interception but absorbed a series of shots from a relentless Pittsburgh pass rush. They come after you and you have to get the ball in someones hands, coach John Harbaugh said. You have to make a play to take them out of it. We didnt do enough to discourage that at all really at any point in the game. There were no such issues for Roethlisberger.A week after passing for a franchise-record six touchdowns against Indianapolis, Roethlisberger duplicated the feat to help Pittsburgh (6-3) win its third straight. Roethlisbergers 12 touchdown passes over the last two games broke the mark of 11 set by Tom Flores for Oakland in 1963 and matched by New Englands Tom Brady in 2007.Antonio Brown caught 10 passes for 138 yards and a score. Rookie Martavis Bryant hauled in two scoring receptions and has five touchdowns in three games. The renewal of one of the NFLs most physical rivalries traded its usual taut, low-scoring style for something decidedly more spectacular but no less physical. When Roethlisberger wasnt dissecting Baltimores depleted secondary with his expanding number of targetss, the teams were trading punches and penalties. NHL Jerseys China . Just not the lead, not after a resurgent Pittsburgh defence gave Roethlisberger all the momentum he would need to continue the finest stretch of his 11-year career. We took advantage of turnovers our defence gave us, Roethlisberger said. We were slow starting but made plays down the stretch. The Ravens were in front 7-0 midway through the second quarter and the Steelers were sputtering when a little vintage Pittsburgh defence — led by suddenly youthful 36-year-old linebacker James Harrison — turned the tide.Cornerback Brice McCain raced 26 yards following a Lorenzo Taliaferro fumble to set up a 5-yard touchdown pass from Roethlisberger to LeVeon Bell, and Jason Worilds picked off Flacco and returned it 30 yards to put Roethlisberger in position to find Bryant for a 19-yard score to put the Steelers up 14-7.The Ravens, playing without injured cornerback Jimmy Smith, simply couldnt keep up. Roethlisberger ended the half with a perfect 47-yard strike to Markus Wheaton.Even when things went wrong, they went right for Pittsburgh. The Steelers tacked on a 2-point conversion following Wheatons score when punter Brad Wing made up for a botched hold by scrambling to his right and connecting with tight end Matt Spaeth to make it 22-10 at the break.Rather than sit on the lead, the Steelers kept attacking. Roethlisbergers 25 completions went to eight different receivers, though he relied on an old one and his new favourite to help the Steelers end a pivotal three-game homestand with a perfect 3-0 record.Roethlisberger found Brown for a 54-yard catch-and-run early in the fourth quarter to make it 29-10. Jacoby Jones responded with a 108-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, but Roethlisberger then hit the 6-foot-4 Bryant for an 18-yard strike and capped another remarkable night with a 33-yard score to Spaeth with 1:51 remaining.I guess once you get in the groove it is what it is, Suggs said. He made some lays. His receivers made some plays for him. He played a phenomenal game.NOTES: Steelers S Troy Polamalu left with a sprained left knee in the second quarter and did not return. ... Baltimore TE Owen Daniels had six receptions for 53 yards a week after having minor knee surgery. ...
